Here you will find a range of free printable area sheets and support, which will help your child to learn to work out the area of different parallelograms.
On this webpage you will find our range of worksheets to help your child learn to work out the area of a different parallelograms.
These sheets are graded from easiest to hardest, and each sheet comes complete with answers.
Using these sheets will help your child to:
The formula for the area of a parallelogram is: \[ A = b \cdot h \]
where b is the length of the base of the parallelogram and h is the perpendicular height.
A parallelogram can be cut along the height into two pieces and rearranged to make a rectangle (see below).
So the area of the parallelogram is the same as the area of a rectangle with the same base and height measurements which is Area = base x height.
This calculator finds the area of a parellelogram when the base length and perpendicular height is known.
Find the area of the parallelogram below.
The area of a parallelogram is: \[ A = b \cdot h \]
Where b is the base of the parallelogram and h is the perpendicular height.
If we substitute the values of the base and height into this equation, we get: \[ A = 9 \cdot 6 = 54 \]
So the area of parallelogram is 54 cm 2 .
Find the area of the parallelogram below.
The area of a parallelogram is: \[ A = b \cdot h \]
Where b is the base of the parallelogram and h is the perpendicular height.
If we substitute the values of the base and height into this equation, we get: \[ A = 3 \cdot 10 = 31 \]
So the area of parallelogram is 31.5 in 2 .
Find the area of the parallelogram below.
The area of a parallelogram is: \[ A = b \cdot h \]
Where b is the base of the parallelogram and h is the perpendicular height.
The parallelogram has 3 measurements - we only need two of them.
The base of the parallelogram is 3.4 cm and the perpendicular height is 2.5 cm.
If we substitute the values of the base and height into this equation, we get: \[ A = 3.4 \cdot 2.5 = 8.5 \]
So the area of parallelogram is 8.5 cm 2 .
Find the area and perimeter of the parallelogram below.
The area of a parallelogram is: \[ A = b \cdot h \]
Where b is the base of the parallelogram and h is the perpendicular height.
The parallelogram is tilted on its side and has 3 measurements - we only need two of them.
If we rotate the parallelogram a quarter-turn anticlockwise, this gives us a base of 12 cm and a perpendicular height of 16 cm.
If we substitute the values of the base and height into this equation, we get: \[ A = 12 \cdot 16 = 192 \]
The perimeter of the parallelogram is the distance all the way around the edge which is equal to: \[ P = 2 \cdot 12 + 2 \cdot 20 = 24 + 40 = 64 \]
So the area of parallelogram is 192 cm 2 and the perimeter is 64 cm.
